Barista Bar Munich
The name might conjure up visions of a modern coffee shop, but the intimate Barista bar and restaurant is better known for its classic cocktails than cappuccinos (although the coffee is good, too). Tucked away down a side alley of the architecturally stunning and upmarket Fünf Höfe shopping arcade, Barista offers respite from the bustling city center for a quick lunch break or better still, a drink or two in the evening. Reminiscent of a classic New York style bar or even small Parisian bistro, the intimate L-shaped setting features a collection of wooden tables and a curved wooden bar with brass fittings that seats 10. Barista oozes elegance as the white-uniformed, tie-clad bartenders mix drinks with German-precision, grabbing bottles from the large, mirror backed bar display. To a soundtrack of light jazz, sip on classics such as rum old fashioned, gin fiz, gimlet, or whisky sour while mingling with the fashionable Munich set. In the summer, the crowd spills outside to the tables nestled along the quiet Kardinal-Faulhaber-Strasse. If you should get peckish, order up some small plates such as tuna carpaccio or a selection of antipasti. For the more ravenous, perhaps a ribeye steak or whole grilled sole will do.
