Hotel Wittelsbacher Hof Garmisch-Partenkirchen

Hotel Wittelsbacher HofNestled on the corner of a tree lined side street just down from the pedestrian area of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the Hotel Wittelsbacher Hof has been serving fresh mountain air seekers for decades. The eclectic clientele of Middle Eastern families, Munich weekenders, and American tourists regularly fill the 48 well appointed rooms (singles to family size) - all of which are traditionally furnished, comfortable, and clean. Most rooms feature a south facing balcony, complete with overflowing floral window boxes, where you can sit and admire the towering Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany. Those longing for the good old days of travel and looking for a bit of nostalgia will be very happy here. A bit Fawlty Towers meets Remains of the Day, the owner, Peter Obexer, and his children still work the front desk, while tuxedo clad waiters and waitresses politely ask if you would prefer "tea? coffee?" to accompany the elaborate buffet breakfast, including eggs to order. Spend the day exploring the endless mountain trails, bike paths, water filled gorges, lakes, castles, and idyllic mountain towns speckled across the Bavarian Alps, but be sure to return to the hotel at least one day for afternoon tea, served daily in the lounge, free of charge to guests.
