The Quays Pub Galway
County Galway, situated in the west of Ireland, is renowned for its music, culture, and crafts. In the city of Galway itself, you will find numerous music and art festivals, a vibrant nightlife, and the best traditional Irish or trad music. Music is an integral part of many pubs in Galway, with skilled musicians coming together not so much to perform, but simply to enjoy playing together and be part of the dynamic entertainment of a night out at the pub. You will find a good session pretty much any day of the week and any time of day during the summer months in Galway. The Quays, a pub nestled in the vibrant area along Quay and Shop streets at Wolfe Tone Bridge, is one of the most popular places to find trad music. Located here for almost 400 years, the pub is a destination in itself, with an interior decorated using objects imported from a medieval church—stained glass, carved wood, Gothic arches, and pews. A large church organ serves as a spectacular backdrop to the stage in the upstairs Music Hall, complete with an authentic railway footbridge. Catering to both Galwegians and visitors alike, the ground floor of the pub is split into a myriad of small bars or sections, including a restaurant. The most popular bar for the regulars is "The Old Bar", where you will find traditional music most afternoons and evenings. So wander on in, order a pint of Guinness, pull up a bar stool or pew, and enjoy the craic.
