Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Sillberghaus Looking for a mountain hut experience but don't necessarily want to hike for hours or days in the Alps to get there? Not far outside of Munich, the Sillberghaus mountain hut sits just a 25 minute hike up in the hills. The more enthusiastic can spend the day mountain biking or hiking the surrounding trails, then meet up with friends to enjoy  a delightful rhubarb and plum spritzer on the sunny patio. You will find no currywurst or spaghetti bolognese here. Instead, snack on a range of seasonal and freshly prepared daily dishes, soups, and sweets, along with the traditional Brotzeiten—a savory Bavarian snack that usually involves bread, butter, ham, cheese, wurst, and pickles, among other nibbles. Have a large group and want to stay overnight? You can rent the entire hut for a nominal price per person. Used as a training site for the Wehrmacht news department during WWII, the bunk bed style rooms, complete with fluffy duvets, each sleep 2-3 people, all open to the fresh mountain air to help you get your rest. The team serves up a simple yet utterly delicious dinner of various grilled meats, roasted potatoes and vegetables, with selected wines, beer, schnapps (of course!), and amazingly good coffee always on offer. Wake up with a quick swim in the natural pool or a steam in the Finnish wood sauna before hitting the trails again for the day or hiking the 15 minutes back down to your car.
